Game Fishing

Sailfish and Marlin are undoubtedly the most sought after game fish and the Northern Territory is no exception to the vast habitat of such fish. While lighter game fish including dolphin fish (mahi-mahi), mackerel and tuna are available there is still no thrill to reeling in or satisfaction of catching a big billfish.

A common mistake made by those without much knowledge of fish is mistaking sailfish for marlin and vice verca. The key different in the fin shape – the marlin’s fin slowly lowers like a slope whereas the sailfish’s fin domes up and is much larger in comparison to the fish. The images below provide an excellent comparison.
